Our Programs

Momcology is building a lifetime support network for childhood cancer families. We know that the effects of childhood cancer can last a lifetime for children and families no matter the outcome. Primary caregiver emotional health can have a direct impact on the wellbeing of the child and family. Our programs and services were built to help families cope, learn and heal with a community of others who know the unique challenges after a childhood cancer diagnosis.

We don’t heal in isolation, but in community.

Online Support

Momcology has been building and maintaining support communities for childhood cancer families since 2011. Our online communities provide regional, diagnosis-specific, and stages of treatment support and dialogue. All Momcology online communities are peer moderated by trained Momcology staff with lived-experience and operate under well established support group guidelines. Momcology intends to maintain an approachable, compassionate, and productive environment for parents seeking peer social support and connections through the accessibility of their laptops or mobile devices. We call it peer support in your pocket.

Caregiver Lounge Webinar Series

Welcome to our couch! Momcology has deconstructed the traditional hospital Caregiver Lounge through our evening webinar series facilitated by pediatric cancer experts and Momcology. Our community votes on each webinar topic through an annual survey as an area of unmet caregiver or family need. Webinars feature professional presentations from our hospital partners across the United States and an interactive question-and-answer segment with our live audience. Past episodes can be found on our Caregiver Lounge program website page. Sit back, relax, and welcome to the Momcology Caregiver Lounge.

Restorative Weekend Retreats

We celebrated the 10th anniversary of our popular Momcology Retreat program in 2024. Momcology provides in-person and virtual retreat opportunities throughout the year across the United States. Hundreds of mothers across the country have received the benefits of participating in a Momcology Retreat weekend and have reported an overall stress reduction of over 70% immediately following the restorative and connecting experience. Momcology retreats consistently receive the feedback of “life-changing” to those able to set aside a weekend for meaningful self-care, community building, and professionally facilitated wellness workshops.

Connections Hospital Program

Our co-facilitated hospital-based caregiver support program, Connections, can be found at partner pediatric cancer care centers nationwide via in-person, virtual, and hybrid group meetings. Due to a strong response from parents and the need for hospitals to provide accessible interventions to address supporting caregivers within the local hospital setting, this program continues to be a cornerstone program celebrated by both oncology professionals and families.

Dadcology

Dads need support too! Dadcology is a developing new program arm initiated in 2023 by fathers of children who have been diagnosed with cancer. Dadcology hosts a monthly virtual Fireside Chat support group just for dads as well as an established online support group. Momcology is excited to continue to host and support the growth of Dadcology with dedicated fathers who are making peer connections for dads a priority. You can learn more and get involved with Dadcology by visiting our program page.

Social & Wellness Events

Replacing isolation with community. Families need flexible peer support and community where they are, whether it be in-patient, at a new and distant hospital, or caregiving at home. Our social connecting programs empower our trained parent volunteers in many locations, offering families the ability to build a peer support community with all the love, support, and resources of Momcology.

Holiday Gift Exchange

Our annual “secret sister” gift exchange and community fundraiser has become a Momcology holiday tradition. Each year thousands of awareness gifts are exchanged to create meaningful holiday cheer while decreasing isolation across our community during what can be a difficult time of the year. This beloved event is for registered participants and all packing and shipping is facilitated by Momcology staff and volunteers.

Annual Mother’s Day Event

We celebrate the roots of our pediatric cancer support community during May. Since 2015, Momcology has been sending Mother’s Day gifts directly to thousands of mothers across the globe. Each wearable gift is thoughtfully curated by Momcology with the intention to promote awareness and start the conversation about childhood cancer throughout the year. Participation in this free event is through registration only which consists of our annual membership profile update.

Moms Take a Stand

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up. Momcology and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) understand that funding for pediatric cancer research often depends on families and those most affected. During ALSF’s Lemonade Days campaign, Momcology organizes the Moms Take a Stand co-campaign. This partnership has effectively combined the resources of ALSF with the support of Momcology to advance life-saving research.

New Member Resource Packages

Momcology new member referrals often come from other families and hospital patient support services (social workers/child life specialists). Every new member of Momcology will be mailed a welcome gift and partner resource package. When you find Momcology, we also want you to find top resources developed by our partners to help you navigate your child’s diagnosis, treatment, and cancer care journey. Our resource packages help you to understand the breadth of services that are available and welcome you to explore the greater childhood cancer support community.
