Partnering with Momcology on Research Initiatives

Momcology follows a Community-Based Participatory Research model in patient engaged projects. Access to the community is a precious resource that should always be treated with the care and intention it deserves during the full scope of any research project. Investigators should understand that Momcology serves the important role of gatekeeper and facilitator to the community to help ensure the most benefit from true community-engaged work. We do not blindly post studies, please do not ask us to. We strongly believe in equitable partnerships with research teams that will benefit the needs of the community through increasing co-learning and creating direct and needed care interventions for childhood cancer families. Momcology is committed to working with research partners who value and respect all aspects of our mission and who have a passion for involving community partnerships in their portfolio of work.

CBPR is a collaborative and equitable approach to research that is carried out in partnership between researchers and the community. Both researchers and the community have an equal share of power, decision-making, and responsibility for the research being done.

A CBPR approach aims to increase knowledge and understanding about particular issues, and then integrate the new knowledge into interventions, programs, or policies that benefit a community.

Partner & Engage

If you are interested in partnering with Momcology, please contact us during study development. We are only able to take a limited number of CBPR projects per year and continue to effectively run the support arms of our mission. Capacity and resource management is a critical component to our success together. Once a CBPR partnership is established, a Momcology representative will serve on the research team and fully participate as a community-based partner and patient advocate on the study. We look forward to working with you and turning ideas and engagement into deliverable action for patients and families.
