Established 2011 | Replacing Isolation with Community
Momcology® is a national nonprofit community-based patient advocacy and support organization founded in 2011 by mothers of children with cancer.
We directly serve the needs of families and caregivers by providing facilitated peer support programs, information distribution, educational opportunities, partnerships with treatment centers, and engagement in projects and programs that address the ongoing needs of families affected by pediatric cancer from diagnosis, through treatment and into survivorship or bereavement care.

Refers to organizations aimed at making desired improvements to a community's social health, well-being, and overall functioning. Community Based Organizations occur in geographically, psychosocially, culturally, and digitally bounded communities.
It is a commonly used model for organizing people within community projects, organizations, voluntary associations, localities, and social networks, which may operate as ways to mobilize around geography, shared experience, interest, need, and/or concern.

Patient advocacy groups are organizations that are set up to represent and support patients and their families living with a specific condition. They are one of the few outlets that can be turned to for credible information, understanding and support.
Patient Advocacy Organizations advocate for their community by hosting family conferences, leading research projects, launching awareness campaigns and recommending treatment for approval to regulatory bodies.

The mission of a nonprofit is to contribute a benefit to society rather than to make a profit. Nonprofits may receive donations from individuals, corporations, and government entities. To qualify as a tax-exempt nonprofit, the entity must serve the public good, meet filing requirements, be established as a 501(c)(3) or similar type of organization, and avoid engaging in certain types of activities. Nonprofits file Form 990 with the IRS to report their revenues, expenses, and activities.

We believe one of the most simple, and most effective ways for a parent to bring purpose to their own pain after experiencing the trauma associated with childhood cancer, is simply by helping someone else through it. This concept is the foundation for all Momcology programs and initiatives. We provide the opportunity and space for parents to reflect on their own experiences, learn from others, identify coping strategies, and explore opportunities to make meaningful contributions back to the pediatric cancer community. We believe connection provides the opportunity to transform pain into purpose.

Momcology has presented or exhibited at the following conferences. We typically attend these conferences as we are able throughout the year. If you are attending, we’d love to connect with you in-person.
